I love to create....actually anything! I cook and bake using the freshest ingredients, I create chalk boards for weddings and other occasions, I hand embroider pillow coverings using the finest threads, so the urge to learn how to knit was an easy decision. I ordered a very expensive infant sweater and when it arrived I said I can do this! I bought some cheap yarn and needles and watched youtube videos until I had mastery of stitches and pattern directions. Now I visit the finest knitting stores and websites and create unique baby accessories that feel wonderful against their skin.
What makes your house a home?
It's the little things that make a house a home. It's the photographs of the people and places that elicit a memory that makes you smile. It's the aroma of a great meal or the pie in the oven. It's that comfortable couch with a throw that you want to snuggle under. It's the cup of coffee, it's a stack of great books, and of course, it's that huge carpet bag stuffed with skeins of yarn waiting to become the next cutest thing ever!
What's one thing you love to do that you get to do almost every day?
I teach kindergarten, so engaging children in creative learning experiences is something I love to do. I use literature as a springboard to the many projects we do at the art center. Eric Carle is one of my favorite authors/illustrators. He proclaims that "Everyone is an artist!" That is what I instill in all my children, you are an artist! Being creative is good for your soul! You can follow the fun in my classroom on Instagram @kindergartencreations.
What simple pleasures do you like to enjoy?
My favorite simple pleasure is my grandson's smile and when he calls me nanny! It's my daughter's text at the end of the day to tell me, "I love you Lady!" It's that first cup of coffee each morning and my kids at school demonstrating that they are growing and learning every day.
Name one thing on your "bucket list."
My bucket list is very simple. I would love to travel to Italy and Greece. My husband and I go on road trips which we love, but traveling and eating our way through Italy and Greece would be amazing.
Why did you choose to be part of Nest on Main?
I love the eclectic group of artists that the store showcases. It has something for everyone!
